Circumstances of death:

Axel was wounded 25th of December 1917 during a wiring in No Mans Land, and he was evacuated to No. 11 Canadian Field Ambulance where he succumbed from the wounds the same day. He was wounded in the vicinity of Mericourt, France. Some sources mention 27th of december as the date of death.
